Certificate Program - Requirements

PREREQUISITES

Student Requirements

All applicants must possess the drive and commitment necessary to complete this certificate program. They must be able to keep up in a fast-paced training environment as well as have the ability to work well with their student actors.

Students do not require previous training in film acting and do not need to audition for this one-month certificate program.

This certificate program is ideal for students who wish to train on camera in basic film acting skills in a short period of time as well as learn if the Professional Film Acting Diploma Program is the direction for them to take after completing this program. Students can apply their credits from this program to the diploma program and also receive a $1,000.00 credit towards the diploma tuition.

Each applicant who is applying for admission to the acting school’s one-month certificate program is required to furnish the information necessary for the school’s records.

CANADIAN STUDENTS

Entrance Requirements:

  • Have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent
    -OR-
  • Be 18 years of age or older.

    If student has not completed their secondary school and are 19 years of age and older they must pass a “Wonderlic Test”, a superintendent approved qualifying test which the School will set up for the student.

  • Provide a letter of intent to the Director of the Program.

AMERICAN STUDENTS

Entrance Requirements:

  • Have a Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
    -OR-
  • Be 18 years of age or older.

    If student has not completed their secondary school and are 19 years of age and older they must pass a “Wonderlic Test”, a superintendent approved qualifying test which the School will set up for the student.

  • Provide a letter of intent to the Director of the Program.
  • Must have a valid American passport to come to Canada to train at the Academy.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Entrance Requirements:

  • Proof of graduation from a high school, college or university with a diploma
    AND-
  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • A letter from the student explaining why they want to train in the one-month certificate program.
  • For students where English is not the first language, the following English Language Requirements must be met:
    • TOEFL: 520 paper-based, 190 computer-based, or 6.0 internet-based. Visit TOEFL Website
    • I.E.L.T.S.  Score  6.0
  • Official transcripts not in English must be officially translated. Some countries may submit notarized copies, depending on origin.

IF ACCEPTED

A Letter of Acceptance will be issued by the Toronto Academy of Acting for Film & Television Inc., along with an Enrollment Contract confirming admission to the one-month certificate program.

To accept this offer, students must:

  1. Complete and return the original signed Enrollment Contract by mail or courier. If emailing a scanned copy, the original must be brought to administration on the first day of class.
  2. Pay a deposit fee of $1,000.00 CAD upon submission of the signed contract. This deposit is applied toward tuition and can be paid via:
    • Visa or Mastercard
    • Money order or bank draft (payable to Toronto Academy of Acting for Film & Television Inc.)
    • Wire transfer

Once both the contract and deposit are received, the Academy will send an Official Letter of Acceptance (by mail or courier) confirming enrollment and program dates.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

International Students must take this acceptance letter to the nearest Canadian Embassy to apply for a Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa – TRV).

Our programs are less than 6 months, so a Student Visa is not required.
